The other week I went to Cambridge to visit my good old friend Jay. He is a big fan of everything Latin-related so I would expect nothing less but the loveliest food, and I have to say that The Emperor exceeded all my expectations. Just one thing was stuck in my head when we left: “When am I coming back”.

This refurbished old pub on Hills Road, that only opened its doors to the public last year, might not stand out for its decoration or sophistication. But it doesn’t matter, not one bit. You will want to come back here for the food, that’s for sure. It is so damn good!

The pub has a terrace with cheerful blue tables where you can eat outside or just hang with friends over a few drinks.

You will be delighted with the wide variety of South-American dishes, and a couple of Spanish ones too. I went for the classics: Rancheros eggs, a mix of different types of Causas (a layered potato dish) and Ham croquettes. Not only did they look gorgeous on the table but they were absolutely scrummy. Love ya Jay!

For drinks, they do the all Latin staples: Perivian Pisco Sour, Mexican tequilas, Argentinian and Chilean wines, Spanish cava, as well as traditional and international beers.

If you live in or are visiting Cambridge, keep this one in mind as they also organise all sorts of fun events, such as live music nights, Six Nations rugby, Halloween and Xmas parties. Check out their site to stay in the loop and treat yourself with a night full of Latin favours!
