27 Things you MUST DO in Porto

If you’re travelling to the town that gave the famous wine its name, write down these MUST DOs to make the most of your days and don’t miss anything:

  1. Walk around Avenida dos Aliados, where you can find the City Council.

  2. Visit the Sé Catedral and its lookout.

  3. Go to A Torre dos Clérigos, where, if you manage to climb its 200 steps, you will have the best views in town!

  4. Get into Sao Bento train station and where you will feel like you are time travelling.

  5. Take a cruise over the river Duero, for just €12.5.

  6. Take a tour in one of the wine cellars by the Ribeira, where at the end you will enjoy a tasting of the authentic Porto wines. It’s a MUST DO!

  24. Visit the Mercado do Bolhao market with lots of inexpensive stalls where you’ll find fresh produce, meat, fish and flowers.

  25. Visit the Palácio de Cristal gardens, where the peacocks roam around freely and you can feed them. They also do book fairs and concerts!

  26. Visit the Palácio da Bolsa, by the Ribeira. For around €7 you can contemplate its majestic ceilings.

  27. Arm yourself with patiente and get a sandwich from the famous Casa Guedes, in Praça dos Poveiros. The “bifana” sandwich is a MUST HAVE in Porto.

Porto is a really safe town and its people are extremely welcoming and kind. Get lost in its gorgeous streets and enjoy one of the pretties cities in Europe!
